It affects every part of a person's life from their work to their home to their sense of who they are. Chronic illness is a serious adjustment that often needs extra support that healthcare systems don't provide. My name is Rachel and my specialty is in chronic illness adjustment. I have been a therapist for 15+ years working with people living with chronic illness and their family members. I've worked with people living with heart failure, COPD, cancer, dementia, diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, chronic pain, and even people nearing the end of their lives. If you or someone you love is struggling with figuring out how to live with a chronic illness, reach out to me! We could meet and discuss options and about your specific illness. You don't have to struggle alone!
Healing begins in safe, connected spaces - our practice is built on core values that guide both how we show up as clinicians and how we walk alongside our clients. At Root & Rise Collective, we value connection over correction, curiosity over judgment, and integration over quick fixes. We approach our work with healing that extends far beyond surface-level change.

As an Asian American female with immigrant parents, navigating being a minority, assimilating into society and finding my cultural identity was a difficult time in my life. Unresolved childhood trauma and attachment issues are root causes that make us who we are - but that doesn’t mean we can’t work to change those maladaptive patterns you learned growing up… Do you also experience generational and childhood trauma, cultural expectations that don’t always align with societal norms, low self-worth and people pleasing behaviors? Do you want to change the way you react when your feelings get the best of you? Do you want to figure out the root cause of your anxiety or depression and heal your hurt inner child? Stop the cycle and be the first one in your family to start this healing journey. I’ll challenge and support you to help identify triggers, behaviors and feelings connected to past relationships or experiences in order to change the patterns that hinder you from being your best self. Life can be brutal, can’t it?! Can you remember that time in life when you were happy, like top of the world scream it from the rooftops happy? In that moment, everything was right in your world and then well, life happened. Now you look back and have so many questions…What happened? Let me tell you, you are not alone! We’ve all been there in some season of life. But who says this can’t make us better! Every person comes to therapy with their own individual needs. Therefore, we adapt our interventions based on a comprehensive assessment of who you are and what you need. We are all trained in a number of different interventions and like to use a combination of our training and expertise to utilize an eclectic approach to best meet the needs of each individual person. We know that every individual is uniquely different and therefore each person should have a unique therapy journey based on their own needs.
I work best with students who may look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or exhausted underneath. Many of my clients are neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, coping with trauma, struggling with perfectionism or intrusive thoughts, or trying to navigate major life transitions. My approach is warm, direct, and practical. I help clients better understand what is happening, build skills that fit their lives, and make meaningful changes without expecting them to become someone they are not.
Having over 20 years of experience, I specialize in guiding and supporting individuals as they navigate complex relationship issues. Many are family members who have loved ones that struggle with addiction. I help people resolve unhealed emotions and break patterns they’ve been stuck in so they can grow in setting limits, building confidence, and feeling better.
Welcome! I am most passionate about supporting clients in the LGBTQ+ community, and those working through religious trauma, childhood trauma, and childhood emotional neglect. Together we work on challenges like low self-esteem/self-concept, grief, guilt and shame, trouble making decisions, perfectionism, and people pleasing tendencies. I also support clients working through general anxiety, depression, and life stressors. Clients who may be a good fit for me are motivated to get to know themselves better, process wounds from past experiences, and practice engaging with life in new ways - when they feel ready to do so. I incorporate education about the central nervous system and body based/ sensory grounding techniques into sessions. For in person sessions, I provide fidgets, coloring pages, and collage materials. I will almost always be fidgeting in session. Sometimes clients prefer to sit on the floor or take off their shoes - I welcome sensory adjustments like this! I recognize clients as the experts of their own lives, and see the therapeutic relationship as a type of dance between curious people. I believe therapy can be for anyone, and engage in my own personal therapy journey as well. I aim to create an equitable and judgement free zone in my space. If you'd like me to join you on your journey, reach out! For clients using insurance, I have partnered with Mindful Therapy Group for scheduling, billing, and a physical office space. I can also offer a sliding scale for clients without insurance, though these sessions can only be offered virtually at this time.
Peak Serenity Counseling & Nutrition is a therapy practice devoted to meeting the mental health needs of adolescents, families, and adults living in Colorado and Virginia. We believe that challenging and changing unhealthy behaviors will yield overall better mental and physical health. Together with our clients, we explore past experiences and examine how they continue to impact the present and influence behaviors. Our holistic approach looks at the entire person and not just at the symptoms they are experiencing. Our goal at Peak Serenity is to help clients find their full potential and well-being through self-exploration, understanding, and acceptance of their true, authentic self. Through learning to value themselves and understand their wants and needs, clients explore and discover what brings them to their own sense of peak serenity.
I aim to guide clients in discovering their patterns and getting off autopilot to begin living a life they choose! I am strongly connected with non-traditional lifestyles and work to cultivate a safe place for all people, most frequently working with clients in queer, non-monogamous, & kink relationships. Most of my clients are wanting to work on issues mostly unrelated to but within the context of these communities and lifestyles, and are tired of having to spend so much time explaining the context to therapists unfamiliar with their world. I also work with folks looking to explore these aspects of themselves for the first time. Growing up, my father's Navy career caused our family to move every 0.5-2.5 years. Since transition was my constant, I developed unique insight into the complex intersection and paradox of excitement, anxiety, fear, resistance, confidence, insecurity, love, and hate that can all be felt simultaneously during times of major change. This is why I love working with college students and helping them to navigate experiences such as: being away from home and re-configuring family relationships; exploring new friendships and romantic relationships; discovering their life path(s); learning a larger variety of ways to cope, communicate, and relate to themselves and the world; and diving more deeply into issues related to identity (e.g. sexuality, gender, higher consciousness, vocation, etc.). I tailor my approach with each of my clients, but primarily utilize mindfulness, experiential activities, and somatic techniques (i.e. deepening the relationship and communication between your mind and body).
Our mission is to provide quality mental health therapy and recovery services by offering individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults, group counseling, clinical supervision, and training. We are dedicated to resilience, connection, and engagement for the betterment of the community.

I believe that meaningful change begins with acceptance, self-compassion, and a safe space to explore life's challenges. My therapeutic approach is centered on helping clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves while recognizing and building upon their inherent strengths and resilience. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to move toward their goals at their own pace. Together, we work to identify patterns, process difficult experiences, and develop practical tools that foster healing, growth, and lasting change. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices and tailored to meet each client's unique needs. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive and behavioral approaches, mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed care. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I also utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and strengthen adaptive beliefs. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, or seeking greater self-understanding, I am committed to supporting you with compassion, collaboration, and respect throughout your therapeutic journey.
College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming. Between classes, relationships, friendships, family expectations, work, and figuring out who you are, it's easy to feel like you're supposed to have everything figured out when you're still trying to find your footing. I'm Grace, and I'm a therapist who works with young adults navigating anxiety, self-doubt, life transitions, relationship challenges, trauma, identity, and the pressure to "have it all together". My approach is warm, collaborative, and judgement-free. Therapy isn't about telling you what you SHOULD do. It's a space where you can slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and build a life that actually feels like yours. Whether you're struggling to manage the demands of college, feeling disconnected from yourself, navigating a difficult relationship, or simply feel like something is "off", you don't have to figure it out alone. We can work together to understand what's underneath the stress, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and help you feel more confident moving forward. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. Feel free to email me to set one up. I can't wait to meet you!
