You have been trying to get to a place where you can be authentically you. But currently, so much is defined or dominated by relational trauma or systemic oppression. We can work together to heal from trauma from the past, and work together on the current traumas that impact your life. School can be a stressful time. In addition to managing any mental health issues you might be experiencing, you also feel pressure to do well academically, or have anxiety about your career, or be unhappy with friendships on campus and feeling alone, or having difficulty adjusting to the increased demands on their time or to the new environment. I work with students who are struggling in these areas, and have extensive experience working specifically with college and graduate school students, so I understand both the unique challenges and common stressors you're facing. In addition, I have specific expertise in helping young adults navigate dating and romantic relationships in the college setting. In fact, my doctoral project focused on understanding how young adults experience hookup culture. My goal is to help clients reduce anxiety, manage depression and bipolar disorders, resolve relationship issues, navigate difficult life transitions, and maintain healthy habits and lifestyles. Many people feel overwhelmed and lost, unhappy in their situation but unable to make positive change or find satisfaction in life. They rely on old habits to feel better such as avoidance by overworking or isolating, escaping through technology or substances, or being self-critical in hopes this will force themselves to change. In individual therapy I help my clients understand how their past has shaped their present, identify immediate and future goals, learn healthy ways to cope and grow, and find meaning in their lives. I also have a specific interest in helping people understand patterns in their relationships and improving their connections with others.

I am accepting new clients! I believe in the power of therapy to help people connect with inner wisdom, explore and build upon strengths, and process difficulties in a supportive and non-judgmental space. I view the therapeutic relationship as being fundamental to growth and change, as it lays the groundwork for you to work through vulnerable feelings and explore relational patterns. I try to foster this relationship by connecting on a human level and providing an atmosphere of care, acceptance, openness, curiosity, and humility. While I tend not to give advice, I may share new perspectives, offer tools for change, or help you draw connections between current patterns and past experiences. I deeply respect your decision to seek therapy and look forward to getting to know you.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, I believe that the best approach to therapy is a collaborative, integrated model that meets the needs of the person sitting before me. As your therapist, I am here to learn about you – your experiences, relationships, and insights – to help you understand different themes that may be contributing to your current stressors. In order to get the most from the therapeutic experience, I strongly believe the patient has to be an active participant in the work. Together we will assess the best steps to take based on your personal strengths and abilities. My hope is that through our work you feel more confident, secure, and connected to yourself, your relationships, and your goals. To reach these goals, I incorporate various evidence-based practices to help guide our work such as CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. These tools will allow us to explore how patterns may be impacting your life and provide opportunities to identify your strengths. This information will be the foundation for our work to grow upon knowledge and skills to help you reach your goals. If you are open to learning more and ready to engage therapy, please reach out to me today for more information.
