People come to me because they are struggling and feel stuck or overwhelmed. I see lots of college students in my practice and specialize in working with people who are challenged by anxiety, ADHD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (level 1) but I have experience with many different issues. My approach involves providing information about how the brain works, how to use it as your ally instead of an enemy, and how to find strength in the very things that challenge you. (ex: There are so many wonderful things about having ADHD!) I do this in the context of interpersonal relationships where we talk about things like identity and communication/conflict resolution skills. I also work with people going through a major life transition. I will help you to sort through your feelings and options, work with you to find insights that inspire positive decisions and changes, and help you to be patient with yourself as you work to figure things out. I pride myself as being an LGBTQ affirming therapist. 15 minute walk from WCU. I also have free, off-street parking. Rates listed below are my discount rates for registered students and not my full rate.

I spent 24 years studying and working in universities as a student (undergrad and grad), program coordinator (staff), assistant professor (faculty), and state specialist (extension). I worked hard to earn my degrees and make my mark in academia, but I was often looking for guidance and support from my peers about my career. Sometimes finding a listening ear who truly understood me, my strengths, and my goals was challenging. This sparked ideas for a career change, and back to school I went for 5 years part-time while working as a professor, being a spouse, raising two young kids, and still fitting-in some outside pursuits. I became a counselor, and I founded AutumnSpring Counseling, to help students, faculty, staff, and others connected to universities navigate through and cope with the challenges of academic study and work. I am dual certified in mental health (NCC) and career counseling (CCC), and I strive to help clients develop strategies for their present and their future career situations. Through counseling, assessment and evaluation tools, and career strategizing, I help clients process the challenges, decisions, and transitions related to their career and their personal wellness. My website offers a lot of good details about me and the clientele I help the best, so please visit www.autumnspring.co. Once you read there, if I interest you, please email or call me and let's set up a time for a free 25-minute consultation call.

I am a therapist who specializes in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with either anxiety, life transitions, complex trauma or their Christian faith. I enjoy being able to walk alongside others in their life journey and to be a stable, and consistent support in their life. I have been in the mental health field for over 5 years now working with various people of those who have experienced trauma throughout various forms of life. I also have experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders, and trying to navigate family conflict. I will assist you on your mental wellness journey by providing you a safe space to feel what you feel, to be heard and to take the next steps in addressing the struggles you face with new skills. I use a client-centered approach in combination with specialized interventions such as CBT, DBT, and parts work. I can use spirituality approaches if desired. Be gentle with yourself and remember this quote: "We cannot choose the cards we are dealt, but we can choose how we play the hand." I love working with people of all ages who are seeking to understand themselves and other significant people in their lives! It is my joy to help my clients find peace and make meaning of both the usual challenges in life and the events that threaten to rob us of hope. My work life before becoming a therapist in 1997 included working in child welfare, teaching in China, and volunteering in religious activities. As a therapist my training and experience have been focused on themes of attachment, relationships, grief, loss, trauma, and spirituality. If you are wondering who I am as a person, I am a spouse, mother of four grown children, "Mimi" to five grandchildren, and oldest sibling in a large tribe. When not working I love to read, make quilts, play board games, cook and just spend time with the people I love.

Although we cannot change our past, we can acknowledge its impact. We can change how we view our past and ourselves. While working with clients, I encourage expression to gain self-awareness and to reshape narratives. Expression is essential in everyday life, especially when working through difficult times, such as grief and trauma. I practice therapy with a person-centered, trauma-informed, strength based approach to meet clients where they are and to help them make changes to start the healing process. For some clients, verbal expression can be difficult. Creative expression can demonstrate one’s thoughts and feelings in a tangible way. Art Therapy can be helpful in exploring one’s thoughts and feelings and fostering self-awareness. As an Art Therapist, I have the ability and knowledge to bring artmaking into the therapy session and to help facilitate the healing process. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC). I have many years of experience helping people with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and addiction. I have experience practicing therapeutic techniques of Trauma Informed Care, CBT, DBT, and MI, as well as Crisis Intervention. I am available for in person sessions, as well as telehealth/virtual sessions.

Hi, I'm Alex. I work with young adults who experience the stress of going through life's transitions. I often find that clients experience perfectionism, shame, and guilt. Growing up, if we missed out on empathy, emotional validation, encouragement, or secure connection, we may be saddled with the belief that we are "not worthy", or "never good enough". We may struggle to accept our authentic self and be true to ourselves when we are going through difficult emotions. To feel confident and connected in relationships we need to keep showing up where we are fully seen and loved, flaws and all. I help clients work towards peace in their lives and oneness with themselves. I encourage clients to honor what once served them while letting go of what no longer serves them in relationships. I also work with individuals effected by cycles of trauma, addiction, and disconnection. I approach therapy from a relational, trauma-informed, and culturally competent perspective. EMDR and art making techniques can be used for radical self expression, to update clients' survival brain "software" and complete neural network integration. Yoga and mindfulness based techniques are used to establish a safe connection with the body. Please connect with me, let's talk briefly to see if we'd be a good fit! I am flexible with scheduling to find a time that accommodates your needs. We can meet in person at the office or online via a HIPAA compliant virtual platform. You are worthy of a safe productive opportunity to process your experiences and be supported in your journey.

I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist offering therapy for individuals, couples, and families in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. I also help clients explore the impact of family-of-origin dynamics and rebuild trust in themselves and their relationships. With training in both individual and relational systems, I offer therapy that honors the complexity of your inner and outer worlds. In addition to clinical work, I’ve held leadership roles in supervision and program development, and I bring that depth of experience into each session. Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.

I am licensed in DC, MD, NJ, PA, and VA and provide flexible teletherapy to fit your busy schedule! I hold advanced certification in an evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) model developed by Dr. David Burns at Stanford. I am also certified in CBT for insomnia (CBT-I) developed by Dr. Gregg Jacobs at Harvard. My approach is empathic, structured and active. I use brief mood surveys before and after sessions, to monitor progress and give you a chance to provide me with feedback. I will also expect you to practice new skills between sessions. When we start working together, I will learn about your unique situation to help us set goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. My clients typically start experiencing relief within a few sessions, and our work together results in lasting joy and fulfillment. If you are interested in seeing if we are a good fit, please visit my webpage to set up a free consultation. I look forward to meeting you!
