I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 2013 from Colorado State University before going on to earn a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wheelock College in 2016. I currently hold licenses in Massachusetts as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) as well as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor. I hold a certificate of Clinical Treatment of Relational and Multi-Contextual Trauma. I have over 10 years of professional experience and have worked in a variety of settings with a diverse population including those experiencing depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, foster care, adoption, grief/loss, poverty, homelessness and incarceration. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, elderly, couples and families. Our weight-obsessed culture chastises and shames you, as though your body size is not only a personal moral failing, but a reliable indicator of poor health. College is an exciting time though it can be an overwhelming one as well. College comes with its own unique set of challenges - increased workload, the need for greater time management, increased independence, and trying to find a good work-life balance, to name a few. College life can bring on new anxiety or exacerbate pre-existing anxiety, and managing this and coping in healthy and effective ways can prove difficult at times. Anxiety and stress can also trigger new or worsen pre-existing Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), like excoriation disorder (skin picking) and trichotillomania (hair pulling). If you are a female student struggling with anxiety and need help managing it, and/or are having a difficult time with BFRBs, I would love to work with you. I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist, and I feel privileged to help those struggling with mental health issues. I understand that there is still a stigma surrounding mental health, and I strive to ensure my patients feel understood during our appointments. I have experience treating patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, emergency departments, and medical hospitals.
